Jon West is an honest and committed family man with deep roots throughout South Texas. He has dedicated his professional career to public service and for over 25 years has fought to protect and serve the citizens of our state.
While attending St. Mary's Law School in San Antonio, Jon received the American Jurisprudence Award for Ethics/Professional Responsibility. He passed the bar exam before graduation. He began his career as a felony prosecutor in Starr, Jim Hogg and Duval counties and also served as a felony prosecutor in Kleberg, Kenedy, Bee, Live Oak, McMullen, Jim Wells, Brooks and San Patricio counties. Jon has been the First Assistant District Attorney in 4 of the 5 District Attorney's Offices in which he has worked and he has been endorsed by law enforcement throughought the region. In addition to criminal law, Jon has experience in family law, personal injury, probate, corporate/business and real estate law as well as appellate law and class action litigation.
While litigating cases for Child Protective Services in Duval County, Jon met his wife-to-be, Sandra Galvan who was a social worker for CPS. Both have continued serving the community - Jon as an attorney and Little League coach and Sandra as a school teacher. Today they are the proud parents of two sons and one daughter.
Our Texas and U.S. Constitutions are under threat from those who wish to bend them for their own agendas. I refuse to let that happen. Every decision from the 13th Court needs to be just, fair, and uphold the rule of law.
Many of our courts have been bogged down with bureaucracy and delays. I am committed to reviewing lower courts' decisions swiftly and moving the appeals process forward as efficiently and effectively as possible.
Liberal or conservative, it doesn't matter. I will base decisions on the law and nothing else. I want to ensure fairness in every civil and criminal appeal, free from any personal or political agenda.
With rising mistrust in the judicial system, I pledge to be transparent and dedicated to the rule of law. The 13th Court of Appeals must be a place where Texans know the law and its intent is respected and protected.
